Since 1978, the Community Safety & Education Team has grown from one program to over thirty. In 1979, the fire district's first official campaign was the "Learn Not to Burn" program, a comprehensive fire safety education curriculum for school children established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Continuing to grow, change and evolve with our community's needs to provide the highest quality of education in fire safety and prevention, our team has diversified it's reach into many programs and market segments. Working primarily with our local schools and service clubs, we strive to reach every child every school year and make informative and educational presentations to the service clubs on topics such as Defensible Space and Fuels Management as well as CPR and AED processes. For more information on any of our programs, please contact Tia Rancourt, Community Safety & Education Coordinator 775/881-0351, ext. 8106.
